2005 PAKISTAN EARTHQUAKE
Thousands perished when an earthquake rocked Pakistan's North West Frontier Province (now known as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa) in October 2005. Click on the image to read my account of the earthquake published by CNN.
Quake survivors faced the coldest months housed in winterised tents.
Earthquake affected people sought refuge where they could.
The town of Balakot was closest to the earthquake's epicentre. Once a popular alpine tourist destination and gateway to the Kaghan valley, it was completely destroyed by the disaster.
Entire families were wiped out by the disaster.
Military helicopters dropped clothes and winter blankets in the disaster area.
